Recovery and Downtime After a Mini Facelift

Immediately after surgery – You will need to rest and stay still, keeping the head elevated. Once released, you will need to be driven home by another adult who should assist you for the first 24 hours. Your face will be dressed with a compression bandage that will remain in place for one day.
The first few days – This is the time for self-care and relaxation. You will be wearing a facial compression garment 24/7. Avoid straining, bending, or lifting heavy objects.
The first few weeks – Within a week or so, Dr. Zenn will remove your sutures. Dr. Zenn’s will provide scar gel to be placed daily. At first, the skin may feel tight and numb, but these sensations slowly fade over time. Most patients feel comfortable engaging socially after two weeks.
Follow up photos are taken 2 months after surgery. It is recommended to allow 4 weeks before travel or intense physical activity like running.
