Popular For A Reason

BOTOX® is the most requested injectable wrinkle treatment on the market, and continues to be a popular choice for those who seek a rejuvenated, wrinkle-free face. BOTOX is often the first injectable patients try, and the results can be quite impressive. At Zenn Plastic Surgery we provide BOTOX in Raleigh for patients who range in age from their mid-20s to their 80s.

What is BOTOX?

BOTOX is an injectable first approved by the FDA to reduce the presence of facial wrinkles. Common treatment areas include crow’s feet, the “elevens” or frown lines in the brow, and the “bunny lines” that appear on the sides of the nose. BOTOX is a neurotoxin, a safe chemical that temporarily relaxes muscles to achieve a smooth, wrinkle-free look.

How does BOTOX work?

In simple terms, BOTOX temporarily stops muscles from contracting by blocking movement signals from the nerves to the muscle. The muscle then relaxes, which stops the tissue movement that forms wrinkles. BOTOX is only applied to non-critical muscles that are not necessary for function.

Who Injects Your BOTOX matters

Many people avoid BOTOX because they fear looking frozen or stiff. Here’s the truth: when BOTOX is applied properly, the results look completely natural and are undetectable by the untrained eye. When considering BOTOX, look for an experienced professional who is well-versed in facial anatomy, like Zenn Plastic Surgery’s Master Injector Tara Cypher, RN, MSN, CANS.

The muscles of the face are delicate, and all have a different size, strength, and vector of pull. To add a layer of complexity, everyone’s facial anatomy has its own unique features; this requires a bespoke approach for every patient. Only a seasoned injector has the discernment to know how much BOTOX to use and precisely where to place it for natural-looking results.

What results can I expect?

Within 48 hours of your BOTOX in Brier Creek, wrinkles will begin to melt away. In five to seven days, expect noticeable smoothness where frown lines and fine lines used to be and for the face to look noticeably rejuvenated. Most patients start to see wrinkles and lines slowly reappear around 3-4 months as the effects of BOTOX wear off and muscles once again start to contract.

Typically, the larger and stronger the muscle, the faster the wrinkles and lines return. With repeated treatments, fine lines and wrinkles appear less prominently over time and may require smaller amounts of BOTOX. To maintain a smooth and youthful look, ongoing maintenance injections every three to six months are necessary. Consistent BOTOX treatments early in the aging process can actually keep deep wrinkles from forming; this is sometimes referred to as “pre-juvenation.”

BOTOX For Facial Contouring

In addition to rejuvenating the face, advanced injectors can utilize BOTOX to contour areas like the eyes, lips, chin, and jaw. For example, BOTOX can improve the shape of the eyes by manipulating the muscles around them to seem larger, and by raising the brow to create an aesthetically pleasing arch. BOTOX is commonly used to weaken and diminish vertical “smoker’s” lip wrinkles, increase the prominence of the upper lip with a technique called the “lip flip,” and make the mouth more attractive by raising the corners of the lips. BOTOX can even diminish the appearance of wide jaws when properly applied to the masseter (chewing) muscle.

Should I Choose BOTOX or another brand?

BOTOX, Xeomin, Dysport, and Jeuveau are manufactured and sold by different companies. While the active molecule is similar across all of them, each contains subtle differences. Some brands are touted to last longer; others produce results more quickly. The effect on each patient varies, and patients who do not respond well to one may do better with another, though this is unusual.

Some brands may be less expensive at times — but this is marketing, not medicine. Zenn Plastic Surgery exclusively utilizes the most up-to-date and cutting-edge treatments, and we employ BOTOX more than any other neurotoxin on the market. BOTOX, produced and sold by Allergan, was the first to be approved for aesthetic use by the FDA and remains the market leader decades after its initial release.

How Much Does BOTOX Cost?

The cost of BOTOX is usually determined by the amount required (measured in units) or the area of injection. Because patient plans are individualized, Zenn Plastic Surgery prices BOTOX by the unit. A better question is, how many units do you need? The answer varies. Our expert injector Tara Cypher will determine the appropriate amount during your consultation, and inform you of unit amount and cost before treatment occurs.

New patients are often hesitant and start with 15-30 units, but commonly come back for more once they see their results. To establish a BOTOX routine, Tara will note a patient’s response to the number of units administered during their previous treatment. BOTOX treatments offer a great “ bang for your buck” as they are effective and long-lasting with little-to-no downtime.
