What inspired you to specialize in aesthetic injections, and what keeps you passionate about this field?

After my youngest was born, I looked and felt like a tired new mom. After a couple of visits for tox and a few other treatments, I felt an amazing difference! My injector was a talented cosmetic dermatologist and when she saw my enthusiasm, she offered to train me in aesthetics. It was a pivot from medical and surgical dermatology... and I jumped at the chance. I'm passionate about helping my patients experience that same newfound vibrancy, at any stage of life.

How does your background in dermatology enhance your work as an aesthetic injector?

I enjoyed my 14 years in medical and cosmetic dermatology. My understanding of skin physiology, challenges with dryness, acne or redness, pigment and more...these are all part of my calculus when I'm working with patients. I keep my dermatoscope handy in case I need a closer look! I'm well-versed in achieving healthy skin--the foundation of other beauty treatments and the key to great surgical results.

What advice would you give someone considering aesthetic treatments for the first time?

Start with a consult! Talk about what's important to your life. Is there an event? A new job or relationship? Tell your injector about any skin challenges or concerns you're facing, what matters most, and budget considerations. Pick a provider who listens, and who will help you with both short and longer term planning. Think of it as a journey, not a one-stop service, and remember that patience with the process will allow for incremental, positive changes that really add up over time.

How do you approach creating a personalized treatment plan for your patients?

It's a top to bottom beauty analysis-- starting with skin quality, skin tone, facial shape and contour, and a detailed look at things like geometry and proportion. I like to list out the top 1-3 beauty concerns, offer a range of options, and let patients choose what's best for them. Often, they know what it is; sometimes they want time to consider. Everyone is different, but the important part is avoiding cookie-cutter methods and approaching each patient holistically.
